WHY SECRETARY OF STATE?
ABOUT THE OFFICE
It’s more than just licenses and tabs. It’s about making government work for you.
Most people think about the Secretary of State when they’re renewing their driver’s license, updating their ID, or dealing with car registration. And yes, that’s a big part of the job. But for Michigan’s Secretary of State, I know there’s a lot more happening behind the scenes—like making sure our elections are safe, fair, and accessible, and keeping the official records for our state.
In short, it’s where democracy meets customer service.
I’m running for Secretary of State because I know these things matter. Whether you’re trying to get a marriage license, register to vote, or just make it to work with an up-to-date plate sticker—how fast, fair, and functional government is can really impact your day. I’ve spent my entire career working to make that experience better for real people.

I’m a Proven Change-Maker and Consumer Advocate
I’m not just someone who talks about public service—I live it. For nearly 20 years, I’ve rolled up my sleeves for the people of Michigan as a legislator and as Ingham County Clerk. I know how to fix broken systems, modernize outdated offices, and push for policies that actually help.
As Clerk, I turned a clunky paper process into an easy digital system that made getting vital documents faster and simpler. Need a birth certificate? A marriage license? Something that used to take five days in the mail? Now it takes two clicks online or five minutes in person. I made that happen—because I know people don’t have time to waste.
And when it comes to elections? I’ve been a fierce defender of our right to vote. I’ve helped run recounts, stood up for local election workers, and even helped people in jail (who can legally vote) get the IDs and records they needed to cast a ballot.
I’m tough, smart, and I’ll always show up.
I’m a former hardware store owner, a mom of two, and someone who knows how to stand up for what’s right. I’m the kind of leader who speaks plainly, fights hard, and treats people equally—no matter their politics. I’m not interested in credit or drama. I’m interested in results.
I’m running because the Secretary of State’s office touches millions of lives—and it’s important we have someone in charge who really gets it.
I’m ready on Day One to protect your vote, cut through the red tape, and make sure Michigan’s government works better for everyone.
